Dr Andrea Teti's interview with Press and Journal about the Refugee Crisis
The crisis linked to austerity measures
Dr Teti was interviewed by the North-East's biggest newspaper about reasons behind the current crisis and the opposition from some among the public towards the refugees.
"The conflicts in the Middle East, the refugee crisis, and Europe’s austerity are closely connected. This connection must be understood if it is to be successfully addressed."
"In Europe, the population is encouraged to believe Europe is “full” while the tax gap in the UK runs into tens of billions a year, people’s workplace rights and pay continue to be cut, and any protest is dismissed as ‘radicalism’."
"The result is instead of seeing immigration as a resource, one group of disenfranchised people are pitted against even more vulnerable refugees."
