Seminar: Five Years After the Arab Uprisings

28 January 2016, 16:15 - 18:00

Resilience, Conflict and Transformation across the Middle East and North Africa

Thursday 28 January 2016 – 16:15 – 18:00

MR051 MacRobert Building, University of Aberdeen

The ‘Arab Transitions’, an international research project invites you to a panel presentation exploring the political, social and economic transformations the Arab World has been undergoing since 2010. Five years after the Arab Uprisings commenced, outcomes vary widely across countries in the region, from regime resilience (Morocco, Jordan, Algeria), to violent civil war (Libya, Iraq) and to transformation (Egypt, Tunisia). This panel presentation will examine why protests successfully resulted in regime change in some countries but not in others, and will seek to explore the root causes of these protests, how these countries have transformed (economically, socially and politically), and the outlook for the region. For more information, please visit the Arab Transitions project website: http://www.arabtrans.eu/

All are welcome
